Common Ground Kids
Here at CG Kids, we are committed to nurturing every child’s heart with faithfulness and empathy, guiding them to love Jesus wholeheartedly. Through joyful worship and heartfelt prayer, we teach children to savor the stories and teachers of Scripture. We model hospitality and create a sense of belonging where every child feels valued and accepted. We believe in the importance of family involvement, recognizing parents as the main source of their child's spiritual journey. Through service and stewardship, we empower children to make a Christlike impact in their community and the world. We prioritize physical safety and holistic development, ensuring that each child grows in mind, body, and spirit. With a focus on character and spiritual formation, we invite children to become apprentices of Jesus, learning from His example and following him in all things.
Sunday Mornings
Sundays are the primary day that Common Ground Kids gather together to play, learn from Scripture, pray, and practice community. Our classrooms are a fun, safe, and engaging environment. We provide curated classroom experiences for toddlers ages 1-3 years old through grade 5. We offer care for toddlers for the length of the gathering, with PreK-elementary kids joining the entire church for worship before being dismissed to learn from Scripture with their peers. Prior to our church family receiving Communion, all kids rejoin their families so that our entire church is together for Communion.
Curriculum
On Sundays, our CG Kids gather in their classes for lessons curated for their ages. Our curriculum, Wonder Ink, helps us explore core values: God Knows Me, Jesus Loves Me, The Holy Spirit Leads Me, and I am a Child of God. We'll journey through the story of the scriptures every year, with weekly time to practice community with leaders and peers.
Parents are able to create an online account for ongoing access to lesson videos, discussion questions, and more resources for connecting discipleship at home and at church.
Check Ins
We require that all kids are registered and checked-in by a parent or guardian for their safety and security. Check In stations are available in the Sanctuary foyer as well as ground level foyer off the parking lot. Please note any medical conditions, allergies, or crucial information when checking in your child. Once checked in, you will receive a security tag that will be required in order to check your child out of their classroom. We also encourage parents to leave their phones accessible, as messages can be sent to parents via text message if there are any needs for a child during class.
Flexible Spaces
We know childhood comes with lots of ages and stages! If you have a child who is too young for one of our classrooms, who needs to nurse, or who has the wiggles or any other specific needs, you are welcome to one of our many flexible spaces! We have a Tots space available with toys and rockers if you want some quiet. Additionally, we have the service streaming in a Lounge with relaxed seating and a changing table as well as in our main Commons area. We encourage parents and families to find a space that works for them if the Sanctuary feels challenging so they can worship on Sunday mornings!
